Section editor
A section is one large part of a page. An About page might have an introduction, a row of services, a photo gallery, and contact details. Each of those can be a separate section. Visitors see them in the order you arrange them.
Admin path: Content > Pages > Sections
Route:/page/{id}
A Generic page uses this editor. A List page uses listing settings instead. See Pages.
The same editor also appears above the shared website footer. Changes there can affect many pages. See Appearance.
Choose a section
Start with what you want visitors to see. You do not need to use every type.
| What you want to add | Section |
|---|---|
| Paragraphs, headings, or text mixed with pictures | Content |
| One picture beside an introduction and a button | Image and text |
| A few items you choose yourself | Manual collection |
| A list that updates as matching content is published | Query collection |
| Several labelled destinations | Distributor |
| Related panels visitors switch between | Tabs |
| A programme arranged in columns | Schedule |
| A group of photos | Gallery |
| Customer comments approved for publication | Customer feedback |
| Shared contact details or the contact form | Contact |
| A form you have already created | Form |
| A newsletter sign-up | Subscribe |
Customer feedback and Form appear only when their features are enabled. If a type is missing, ask the website administrator to check its feature. Do not use Custom as a substitute.
Add your first section
- Open the page and check its title so you do not edit another page with a similar name.
- Find Sections. A page without sections shows You have not added a section to the page yet.
- Find the Add section toolbar at the bottom. Its buttons are icons. Point at an icon to read the section type.
- Select a section type. For a text introduction, choose Content.
- Fill in the new section. For Content, add a Text block inside it and write your introduction.
- Select Save on the page form. Adding a section does not save the page by itself.
- Follow the page’s publication workflow, then check the result on the website.
The admin shows editing fields, not the finished design. The website theme decides how those fields look to visitors.
Move, insert, or remove a section
Each section has Up and Down arrows on its left. Moving a whole section also moves its contents. The first section in the list appears before the next one on the website.
Each existing section also has an Add section toolbar across its top. A section added there appears above that section. The bottom toolbar adds one at the end. Check the new section’s position before filling it in.
The Delete icon and the section’s type icon are on its right. Point at the type icon to see the section type. To remove a section, check its contents, select Delete, then confirm in Confirm deletion. Save the parent page to keep the removal.
Removing a section also removes the text and items you entered inside it from this page. If you only want it elsewhere on the page, move it instead.
Content
Use Content for information visitors should read, such as an introduction or booking instructions. Write inside it with the Block editor.
- Choose the Appearance. Article suits a reading area. Page suits a broader page layout and adds a Size choice to image, embed, gallery, and table blocks.
- Add a Heading block if this part needs a title, such as “How to book”.
- Add Text below the heading. Add pictures or other blocks where needed.
- Decide whether to tick Show table of contents. With Page appearance, the same checkbox is called Show submenu.
- Save and check the public page.
A table of contents gives readers links to headings in longer content. A submenu provides navigation in supported page layouts. These options do not write headings for you. Add meaningful headings first and check their public links.
Image and text
Use Image and text for a picture beside a short message. For example, introduce a workshop with a room photo, a description, and a “View workshops” button.
- Enter the Title and the Text visitors should read.
- Select an image from the Media library.
- Under Image position, choose Left or Right.
- Choose the Image ratio, such as 1:1 or 16:9, or keep Default. This is the shape of its display area, not its file size.
- Complete Button 1 if readers should go somewhere next. Its caption is the visible button text; its link is the page or address it opens.
- Use Button 2 or the More button only if you need another destination.
Check the picture on a phone and a wide screen. If the crop cuts off a face or important detail, change the ratio or choose another image. Test every button after saving. A caption without a link is not a complete button.
Manual collection
A manual collection shows items you select yourself. Use it for a fixed selection, such as three featured services. Publishing another service does not automatically add it.
- Enter a Title, such as “Our services”, and an optional Description.
- Choose the Content type: articles, categories, products, references, services, team members, events, or event series. Until you choose one, the section shows You have not chosen a type yet.
- Select the add button below, such as Add service. A list opens. Select the item you want.
- Move the selected items into the order visitors should see.
- If needed, fill in the More button caption and link to a page with the complete list.
- Save and check the public cards and their destinations.
Choose the content type first. Changing it clears the selected records, so you will need to choose them again.
To correct an existing service’s title or image, edit that service in its own content screen.
Benchmarks, reasons, and partners
These content types let you enter items directly rather than selecting existing articles or services.
- Benchmarks pairs a Category, such as “Years of experience”, with a Value, such as an approved number. Add the image or icon and link if needed. Check every claim before publication.
- Reasons presents a title, description, and image for each point. Use it to explain concrete reasons to choose a service rather than repeating the same promise in every item.
- Partners contains each partner’s Name, link, and image. Use an approved logo and open the link to check the destination.
Select the add button below the fields, such as Add partner, and arrange the items’ order. These entries belong to this section. Editing a partner here is not the same as updating a separate reference.
Query collection
A query collection selects items using rules. You do not need to write code. For example, show the newest articles and let the selection change when more articles are published.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Title and Description | The heading and introduction for this part of the page. |
| Content type | The kind of content to show. |
| Filter by tag | Tags that narrow the selection, such as a category. Leave it empty to include all eligible items of that type. |
| Ordering | The value used to sort matching items: Not set, By creation, or By update. Articles add By publication; services and references add By order field. |
| Direction | Ascending puts smaller or earlier values first. Descending puts larger or later values first. For dates, descending means newest first. |
| Item count | How many items to show at first. Start with a small positive number, such as 3, and check the layout. |
| Dynamic loading | Allows visitors to load more matching items where the theme supports it. |
| More button | An optional link to another page. This is separate from loading more results. |
For a newest-articles collection, select articles, choose By publication, select Descending, and enter the item count. Save and compare the visible items with the ones you expected.
If it is empty, check that matching items are published in the intended language. Then remove or loosen the tag filter and check again.
Distributor
Use Distributor when visitors need to choose where to go next. For example, offer separate links for “For visitors” and “For exhibitors”.
Enter the section title and description. Select Add link for each destination. Give each link a distinct Title, its destination, and any Description and image you need, then arrange them in order.
This is a set of navigation choices, not an automatically updated content list. It does not create the pages it points to. Open every destination after saving.
Tabs
Use Tabs for related panels, such as information for different visitor groups. Visitors select a tab label to see its content. Avoid hiding essential instructions in a tab they might never open.
- Enter a title and optional description for the whole section.
- Select Add tab and give the tab a short, recognisable title.
- Add its description and write its contents with the block editor inside it.
- Repeat for the other panels and arrange them in reading order.
- Save, then open every tab on the website, including on a phone.
The section title names the whole group. A tab title names one choice within it. A title without content leaves an empty panel. Removing a tab asks for confirmation and removes its content too.
Schedule
Use Schedule for a programme arranged in columns, such as days or venues. Create the content items you want to select before building the schedule.
Choose the Content type first. Until you do, the section shows You have not chosen a content type yet. Enter the section title and description, then select Add column. Give each column a title and optional Subtitle.
Inside a column, select its add button, such as Add event. Enter the Start time and End time, select the existing content record, and select Add. Add a description where needed. Use the item’s Edit pencil to correct its time or selection, and arrange the schedule columns with their move controls.
The end must be later than the start. Otherwise the admin shows The start cannot be later than the end! Leaving out the record shows Selecting an item is required. Items within a column sort by their start time, so correct the time if an entry appears in the wrong position.
Changing the content type clears the existing schedule columns. Decide on it before entering the programme.
Check the finished programme against your approved dates and times. Selecting an event here does not replace editing that event’s own details. Correct a wrong time under Events.
Gallery
Use Gallery for several images that belong together, such as venue photos.
Enter the title and description and choose a Cover image. Then select Add media for each gallery item. The cover is separate from the gallery’s image list, so selecting only a cover does not complete the gallery.
Each gallery item has a Type: Image or Embed. For an image, select a picture and complete the Title, Description, Alternative text, Source, and Source URL fields as needed. Alternative text describes useful information for someone who cannot see the picture. Source is the credit for the picture, and Source URL is the link for that credit. Arrange the images in order.
For an embedded item, use the embed field and description instead, and check that its preview recognises the content. See Embed before using external media.
Save and open the public gallery. Check the first picture, the rest of the sequence, and any image-opening controls the theme provides.
Customer feedback
Use Customer feedback for testimonials approved for publication.
Available when Customer feedback is enabled.
Enter a section title and introduction, then select Add feedback for each comment. Each item has a Title, Text, Source, Link, and image. The source identifies where the comment came from or who said it. Add a link when there is an approved public source readers can open. Arrange the comments in reading order.
Check names, wording, and permission to publish before saving. This section displays comments you enter. It is not a form that collects new reviews.
Contact
Use Contact to reuse the website’s saved contact information. You do not enter another copy of the address here.
The section has two rows, each with a Turn on switch: Contact form and Show contact details. Turn on one or both. Update the address, phone number, and other shared details under Content > Contact.
The form also needs the Contact form feature and a recipient configured under Features. Showing a form here does not set its recipient. After saving, send a test message and confirm it reaches the intended person.
Subscribe
Use Subscribe to invite visitors to join a newsletter. Enter a title and description explaining what subscribers will receive.
This section does not create a mailing list or connect a provider. Ask the administrator to confirm the newsletter feature or Mailchimp connection first.
Save, submit a test subscription on the website, and check the expected subscriber list. A visible sign-up box alone does not prove that subscriptions are being stored.
Form
Use Form to place an existing form on a page.
Available when Forms is enabled.
Create and publish the form under Content > Forms first. Return to the page, add this section, open its selector, and choose that form from the list. Save and publish the page as needed.
Edit questions under Content > Forms, not inside this section. Test a submission on the public page and confirm that the response appears in the form’s downloaded results.
Custom
Custom holds content supplied for a particular website implementation. It is not a general text editor and has no standard public result you can rely on. The admin shows a Careful! warning inside it.
Leave it alone unless the person who built your website has supplied instructions for that exact section. For normal text, choose Content.
When something looks wrong
| Problem | What to check first |
|---|---|
| The page shows old content | Confirm the parent page saved and check whether publication is still needed. Check its language too. |
| Moving an item moved more than expected | You may have used the whole section’s controls rather than those of an item inside it. |
| A collection has no cards | Check the selected records, their publication state, and any tag filter. |
| A button goes nowhere useful | Check both its caption and its link. |
| A contact or newsletter form does not work | Ask the administrator to check its feature, recipient, or provider settings. |
Before leaving, check the section order and every link on the public page. Check a phone-sized view too. Remove empty sections rather than leaving blank areas.
