Events
Use events for one scheduled occurrence with its own public page or listing entry.
For a workshop on one afternoon, create one event. For a festival with several separately listed sessions, create an event series and connect the individual events to it. An event’s start time is not its publication time. You can publish the event information before the event takes place.

Find, import, or create events
Filter the list with Filter by title, State, or Series. The list shows each event’s state, title, Event series, Categories, Time, and Updated date. Select Add event to create one item.
The list also has Import and Export buttons for spreadsheets. See Import and export events.
If you only need one or two events, use Add event rather than importing a spreadsheet.
Complete the event details
The Base data area holds the event’s main fields.
- Enter the Title, which is required, and optionally choose an Event series.
- Set the Location and Age limit.
- Set the Start date, Start time, End date, and End time.
- Add Category tags, General tags, a Card description, and a Card image. The image hint asks for 16:9, shown at 302×170 pixels.
- Tick Has its own page if the event needs a detail page.
The Event series list shows the series in the same language as the event.
When you first save a new event, JORD creates its URL from the title. You can change the URL afterwards and save again.
Check that the end is after the start. The date and time fields store a calendar date and a clock time without a time zone, so enter the local time as visitors should read it.
The location tells visitors where to go. Use a recognisable venue name and enough address information to distinguish it from similarly named places. Check booking or ticket links separately from the location.
The card text and image introduce the event in listings. They do not replace the detailed instructions in the event’s content. A category groups events for filtering; an event series connects this occurrence to a particular programme.
Add contributors and content
In Contributors, select Add contributor, choose an existing team member, and enter their Role, such as host or speaker. Use the move controls to set the order.
Has its own page shows the Content area, where you add blocks and choose Show table of contents. The Social media contacts and SEO and sharing areas are always shown.
For a speaker, select the existing team member and enter the role “Speaker”. The role explains their part in this event, not their permanent job title. If the person is missing, create their team record first and return to the event.
In the detailed content, explain what happens, who it is for, how to attend, and anything visitors need to bring. Use the Block editor for headings and paragraphs. Add a table of contents only when there are useful headings to navigate.
Publish the event
The footer has Save, Schedule, and Publish or Unpublish. Delete appears after the first save. Events have no Preview or Copy.
To schedule, select Schedule, pick the publication date and time (Central European time), and select Save in the dialog. The event becomes public with that publication date.
Before publishing, check dates, booking links, location, people, and the public card. See Saving, publishing, and SEO.
Import and export events
Use Export to download a spreadsheet of the events that match the current list filters, including the language. The file is named events-YYYY-MM-DD.xlsx.
Use Import to create or update several events from one .xlsx file.
For a bulk import, export a current file first and keep an unchanged copy. Edit the exported file rather than building a new one, and test with a few rows before importing the whole programme.
Spreadsheet columns
JORD reads the first worksheet. Row 1 holds the headings and is skipped. Each later row is one event.
| Column | Heading | Content |
|---|---|---|
| A | ID | Empty for a new event. The event’s ID to update an existing one. |
| B | Language | Language code, such as en-GB. Used only for new events; empty means the admin’s current language. |
| C | Title | Required. |
| D | Card description | Optional text. |
| E | Start date | Date cell, as in the exported file. |
| F | Start time | Time, such as 18:30. |
| G | End date | Date cell. |
| H | End time | Time. |
| I | No own page | true, on, or 1 (or a spreadsheet TRUE) means the event has no own page. Empty means it has one. Used only for new events. |
Import rules
- Import one file at a time, up to 2 MiB.
- Columns A to D must be text cells. Format them as text, including a title that is only a number, such as
2026. - A row without an ID creates a new draft event. JORD creates its URL from the title. It has no series, contributors, or content yet.
- A row with an ID updates only that event’s title, card description, and dates and times. Empty cells clear those values, so fill in every date you want to keep. The language, series, location, content, and state do not change.
- If a row has an error, such as a missing title, an invalid date, or an ID that does not exist, the import stops, shows the error, and imports nothing. Spreadsheet errors include the cell address, such as
E5. Fix the file and import it again. - After a successful import, Import successful appears and the list reloads. Open new events to add their details, then publish them.
Change an event’s time or venue
Open the existing event, check its language, and correct the details. Save and inspect its public page, listing, and any schedule section where it appears. Also update prose or images that contain the old information. Changing the date field cannot rewrite a date printed in a poster.
If the event is absent from a listing, check its publication state, selected series, and the listing’s filter. Do not create a duplicate to make it appear.
- The dates, times, and location are correct.
- The event is in the intended series and language.
- The event is published, or scheduled for the intended time.
